Entrance Requirements

CSC 325 Computer Science I
CSC 375 Computer Science II
MAT 315 Calculus I
MAT 302 Discrete Math
Statistics (such as ECON 313 or MAT 321)

Notes

  • You must follow the degree plan that was in effect when you entered UIS (or later). The B.A. degree was changed in Fall 88, Fall 95, and Fall 98. Consult your CSC advisor if you have questions about which degree you should follow.
  • CSC and MAT courses must be taken for a letter grade.
  • CSC 300 must be taken the first semester of enrollment.

Core Requirements (24 hours)

CSC 305 Entrance Assessment (first semester)
CSC 405 Exit Assessment (final semester)
CSC 376 Computer Organization
CSC 385 Data Structures and Alrgorithms
CSC 387 Foundations of Computer Science
CSC 388 Programming Languages
CSC 389 Intro to Operating Systems
CSC 478 Software Engineering Capstone

CSC Electives (12 hours)

Almost any 400 level CSC course will qualify for a CSC elective including: 470, 472, 476, 479, 481, 483, 484 and 485 (except 410 and 478). Consult your CSC advisor for final approval.



General Electives (12 hours)

Almost any courses taken at UIS will qualify for general electives including math courses taken as entrance requirements. Consult your CSC advisor for final approval.

University Requirements (12 hours)

You must complete at least four hours in each of at least two of these areas: liberal studies colloquia, public affairs colloquia, and applied study. CSC majors are encouraged to take at least four hours of applied study.
