Mrs. Janis Rose

Janis Rose has been involved in technology and higher education for over 35 years. She is currently full time faculty in the Computer Science Department at the University of Illinois Springfield where she focuses on network security and open source intelligence (OSINT) collection and analysis. She has trained hundreds of individuals employed by government agencies, as well as the private sector, and teaches university courses including Intrusion Detection, Network Security, Cisco Networking, Firewall Implementation, and Security for Social Media Websites.

She holds CCCENT, CCNA, MCP, CCAI, and Security+ industry certifications. She has been a featured speaker for numerous conferences and organizations including Cisco, General Electric, Homeland Security, and ASIS. She is a partner member of CSSIA, a grant funded by the National Science Foundation, Secretary of the International Ethics Committee of ISSA, a graduate of the FBI Citizen's Academy, recipient of a 3-R Cisco Networking Academy Instructor of the Year award and has been recognized by her peers for her national leadership with the Ties-that-Bind Award.

She has served for the last 14 years as an Illinois President of InfraGard, an initiative of the FBI working with Subject Matter Experts to address cyber threats to our nation's critical infrastructures. As an active member of ISSA and InfraGard, she has researched high-tech investigations regarding cyber terrorism, cybercrime, and corporate espionage. In 2011 she received an award for Outstanding Service to Illinois presented by David A Ford, FBI Special Agent in Charge, Springfield Division of the FBI. In 2012 she received a National Commendation from FBI Director Robert Mueller for Outstanding Service to the National Public Sector. In 2014 she was privileged to meet with the newly appointed FBI Director, James Comey, on two occasions.
